More than 50 hours of sewing, and only two tests to dress your most magical night. That was the recipe of the creative director of Jesús Peiró, Merche Segarra, to come up with the definitive design that would accompany Alexia Putellas on her big night: that of her historic uprising with the Ballon d’Or 2022, with which the last year.
The final dress had the know-how of the bridal firm, but also the opinion of Putellas herself, who from the beginning was very clear about what she wanted. “ We started the process with Alexia’s premise of combining the black and gold of the trophy. Once the silhouette was determined, we considered that the most important thing was to find the fabric that would allow us to provide that combination of colors ”, explains Segarra, who also points out that his first impression was that Alexia is a very specific woman in her aesthetics and also very graph: “I wanted to give the ceremony the right and proper code. We understood that the fabric had to be the main protagonist ”.
The final result is thus a crepe dress with elastane that enhances comfort –also key for both the firm and the footballer–, which is combined with a network full of faceted crystals in iridescent gold that creates two veiled necklines and is finished off with hand-embroidered straps in different sizes. “One last request from Alexia was to incorporate some asymmetry. A wavy ruffle resting on his shoulder was the wink that started a beautiful smile with which we knew that the dress was the right one. Once again, a graphic element that draws the undulating and fast movement that is so typical of her sport, ”says the designer.
And with the same attitude as always and with this impressive two-tone design we have been able to see the athlete tonight, who has made it clear that the field is not the only area that dominates.
