It’s also common to depict it in artwork, and we’re here to show you how to draw a cartoon world so you can create your own too.

At the end of this guide, you’ll be able to draw your fun and creative interpretation of our planet. This photo will make everyone who sees it smile!

How to Draw A Cartoon World

Step 1

We’ll start easy with this first step of our tutorial. All you have to do is draw a circle. We’ll add all the details later. However, this may be easier said than done, as drawing a perfect freehand circle can be almost impossible. Luckily, some tools can make things a lot easier for you.

The best tool for the job would be a drawing compass, as this simple tool makes drawing perfect circles a breeze. You can trace a flat round object to create this circle if you don’t have one. However you do it, you’ll be ready for the next step!

Step 2

This represents our planet, but it’s not just a representation of it! In this tutorial on how to draw a cartoon world, we’ll depict a smiling version of our world. To start, we’ll draw two curved lines for the closed eyes. Two tiny eyelashes will then protrude from each of them.

Next, let’s draw some small eyebrows on the closed eyes. Next, draw a wide smiling mouth, then we’ll draw a large square set of teeth. Finish this step by drawing the corners of the mouth, and then we’ll go to step 3!

Step 3

It wouldn’t be a representation of Earth without some continents, so we’re going to add some of them to your cartoon world by drawing in this third step.

We’re looking for a more stylistic interpretation of the continents instead of trying to make them super precise, and you can draw them with curved and rounded lines. These go to the left side of the globe, as shown in the reference image. The rest of the globe is blank for now, but we’ll fix it in the next few steps.

Step 4

We started drawing the continents in the previous step, and we will add more in this step. The previous ones went left, but this one will go right. Again, they’re more of an approximation of actual continents than anything, but they make a great impression on our world!

They are also drawn very similar to the first ones in the previous step and separated into two parts. There will be an extra slot at the base, but we’ll take care of that along with all the final details in the next step!

Step 5

We have one last continent to add to the planet before we get to the final step of this how-to-draw-a-cartoon world guide. The latter goes to the planet’s base and is drawn with a curved and slightly wavy line.

Once you’ve drawn that final continent, you can add some extra detail. There’s so much you could do to make this design even more unique, and it’s a great way to show off just how creative you can be!

You could draw space behind the planet, which would be a great way to show some details like stars or other planets. What ideas do you have for the aspects you could add to this picture?

Step 6

This is the last step of your drawing, and in this step, we will finish off this happy planet with some color. We used a classic color scheme of blue for aqua and green for the planets to give it a beautiful, vibrant yet realistic look.

You could go for the same color set if you like it, and it would add a nice look to your design. You can even choose some unique color options if you prefer!

This selection could consist of variations of our chosen colors or even unique colors. It’s also fun with the artistic tools and media you choose, so this is an excellent opportunity to unleash your creativity!
