Puma chooses its new product director

The German multinational Puma, a leading global company in the fashion, footwear, and sports equipment sector, has appointed Maria Valdes as Product Manager (CPO), who will also become part of its Board of Administration from next January 1, 2023, coinciding with the beginning of the year.

In her new position, Valdes, who is currently General Director of Puma’s “Sportstyle” division, the company’s largest business unit, will be responsible for the Sportstyle, Motorsport, Teamsport, Running/Training, Basketball, and Accessories business units. . In addition, she will also oversee the creative direction of the company’s brand and go-to-market strategy.

“As CEO of Sportstyle, the executive has demonstrated great product knowledge, great service orientation towards our retail partners, and a deep understanding of our target group,” Puma CEO Arne Freundt explained in a statement.

Prior to assuming the role of CEO of Sportstyle in 2019, Valdes held the position of Senior Head of Footwear Product Line Management. He joined Puma in 2010 and before that, he worked in the area of ​​marketing and product management at the L’Oréal cosmetics group and at the Spanish multinational Inditex.

In addition to Freundt and Valdes, in 2023 the Puma Board will be made up of Chief Financial Officer Hubert Hinterseher and Purchasing Director Anne-Laure Descours. Some changes in the leadership of Puma are preceded by the signing by Adidas of the former CEO of Puma, Björn Gulden, who in November moved to the competitor Adidas to succeed Kasper Rorsted in the position of CEO of the company.
